What’s Going On?

Hi! I’m alive! Sorry I haven’t been staying in touch. I hate when people use the excuse, “I’m just really busy”, because aren’t we all?

In truth this blog hasn’t been making it to the top of my priority list lately. That doesn’t mean I don’t miss chatting with you all. I wanted to drop in and do a little personal check in. Since we’re friends, right?

We’ve been having perfect September weather and I’m trying to spend as much time as I can outdoors (hence me being a no-show around here lately)

I’ve had our new car for 5 months and have just now realized we’ve had free siruis radio. (car salesman said we didn’t because it was a used car).

I’m completely addicted to Call the Midwife. Netflix just added Season 3 and I can’t stop watching (or crying)

I really enjoy a good cry. I think it’s a really beneficial way to acknowledge a situation or feeling and then to let it go. Or sometimes I’m just really hormonal and cry at everything. Whatever.

This weekend while visiting my old college roomie in DC.

I love that I can go months without seeing old friends and pick up like we’re still 19 years old.

I took a shot through an ice cream sandwich. It was delicious.

Naps have a may to make most things better.

I talk to my dog entirely way too much. But she just gets me, ya know?

I’m the stay at home loser that has all the new fall TV premier dates scheduled on her calendar so she doesn’t miss a thing. Excited for Parenthood, Modern Family, Nashville, Revenge, Once Upon a Time, The Mindy Project, Blackish, Walking Dead, and Reign.

I’ve put off fall decorating because I can’t say goodbye to summer. But pumpkin and apple picking and mum shopping are calling my name this weekend. Time to bust out my fall candle collection. Pumpkin cupcake, yes sir!

I’ve read 12 books this summer – I love talking about books but also hate recommending books that others end up not liking. What’s your opinion, do you like reading book reviews or discussing books?

Ryan and I rarely go to the movies. I think we’ve seen 5 movies in the theatre together: Batman the Dark Knight Rises, Lincoln,  American Hustle, and The Fault in Our Stars. I want to see Gone Girl, but I also don’t want to be disappointed. Also hate people who talk or have their cell phones out in the movie #grumpyoldlady

I prefer to watch movies at home, with the comforts of wine and bathroom breaks where you won’t miss a second. Plus darkness and quietness and no cellphones.

Speaking of cellphones, I watched the pilot of the new TV show, Selfie. Pretty basic story line and bad acting, but a good message and trite take on My Fair Lady

I was impressed with Emma Watson’s UN Speech. I’m inspired that she is using her celebrity for good and encouraging humans around the globe to widen their perspectives.

Why is white cheddar Pirate’s Booty so addictive?

That is all for now.

Leave a note, tell me what you’re up to, if you’re a crazy dog lady too. Let’s chat!

  • Sometimes the blog just has to take a step or two down on the priority list, and that’s okay! Glad to know you’re doing well.

I don’t know where to start to comment, so I’m just going to say that I can’t WAIT for fall TV to get started! I know, I know, some shows already did, but I’m excited for MORE!

Thank you! And return to fall tv is one of the perks of the weather getting colder! I’m home sick today, so although I’m not feeling the best I’m going to zone out and watch some TV! Guilty pleasures make some things better 🙂 What shows are you watching?

  • I totally put TV show premieres into my calendar too. It’s a problem, haha. And umm, an ice cream sandwich shots sounds kind of awesome. And I agree, sometimes a good cry just feels so good, even if for no reason at all.

The ice cream sandwhich shot was delicious! But VERY VERY VERY messy! Some friends just don’t get the “good cry” thing. Glad you do!

  • I really like book reviews. They help me decide what I want to read, or maybe find things I’ve never heard of before.

Also, a shot through an ice cream sandwich? Was it amazing? HOW? lol

    • kwalshmac

Nice! I’ll try to incorporate a “recently read” post every now and then. And the ice cream sandwhich shot was amazing! You basically carve a concave tunnel, with your tongue, on the long part of the ice cream. Then slowly pour the shot down towards your mouth. (if that even makes sense!). We had amaretto poured down mint chocoloate chip. It was amazing. But SO messy.

  • shot through an ice cream sandwich!? i’ve never heard of such a thing and now i want to try it! i also cannot wait for revenge, once upon a time (ELSA!) and parenthood. i’m also going to have to add ‘call the midwife’ to my queue because i love a good cry too 🙂

It was really tasty but oh so messy! We had mint chocolate chip with amaretto. This Sunday night on ABC is going to be so so good. I’m MOST excited for Parenthood, but I can’t watch it tonight! Ryan isn’t going to be home and I have to wait to watch it with him. Call the Midwife is so good, if you can handle watching/hearing a lot of pregnancy stuff. I’m learning so much too.

  • Say whaaaaat? A shot through an ice-cream sandwich? That sounds like my kind of shot! Haha. Sounds like you’ve been having a great time out in the “real world” 😉

    • kwalshmac

Thanks – sometimes life needs to be lived away from the computer! Until the deep of winter that is 🙂 And the ice cream sandwhich shot – oh so good!

  • Haha, ice cream shots sound awesome! And I loooove having discussions about books and getting new recommendations!

    • kwalshmac

It was! Even if it was very messy! You basically pour the shot down through the long part of the ice cream sandwhich (after you carved out a tiny tunnel in the ice cream with your tongue). You will look very dignified while taking this shot. That’s one promise I will make 🙂 And I’ll be sure to do a “recently read” post shortly! What are some books you’ve loved recently?

  • Ok, a shot on an ice cream sandwich? What!? I’m intrigued. I also have to agree with you when it comes to enjoying movies from home, I’d much rather be able to watch it on my own with a wine glass in hand. And maybe ice cream too.
