Bumpdate: 13 Weeks

How far along: 13 weeks

Due Date: September 17

Gender: Can’t wait to find out next month!

Baby Size: A small peach! About 2.9 inches long and .8 ounces.

Weight gain: Well I lost about 8 pounds in the first trimester. I’m now up 3 from those lost 8.

Maternity clothes: I’ve bought a few maternity items (jeans, leggings, tanks and a few dresses) but have not formerly worn any yet. I’m squeezing by in my current leggings and stretchy jeans, but at the end of the day they are extremely tight.

Stretch marks: None yet, but I know they will be coming. I’m using Palmer’s cocoa butter stretch mark lotion every day though.

Movement: None yet! I heard this start around 16 weeks, I can’t wait!

Best moment this week: Getting my hair cut and colored for the first time since early November!!! I felt like a new woman after touching up my four-inch roots. (I was waiting until the 2nd trimester to do it)

Looking forward to: Having my baby bump “pop”. I’m not technically showing yet but I do have a rounder belly. Hoping to look pregnant and not just fat. Also celebrating our birthdays!

Food cravings: Chicken fingers, chicken nuggets, bbq chicken pizza, ice cream, cheesy sandwiches, and lemonade. Being pregnant has turned my appetite into that of a 5-year-old. Oh and ice water. Funny because my sensitive teeth could never handle ice before.

Anything making you queasy or sick: I’ve finally been able to put vegetables back in my diet but I still get nauseous quite a bit. The idea of broccoli and most meat makes me gag.

Labor Signs: I hope I’ll be leaving this section blank for a while!

What I miss: Running and working out hard. Exercise is a stress reliever for me. I’m still going to the gym but my 4 mile runs have turned into 2-3 mile walks. I get tired so easily and out of breath. My doctor recommended keeping my heart rate at 140 and not over doing it. I also miss the occasional cocktail, duh.

Mood: Hormones are making me equally cranky and emotional. I go in swings. But feeling SO much better this week with the nausea and sickness so that puts a huge smile on my face.

Symptoms: Still a little bit nauseous at times, especially at night. Very tired and suffering from pain in my lower back and hips making it hard to sleep and walk for an extended period of time. Heating pad and snoggle help a bit.

Sleep: Not that great. My back and hips are in constant pain at night.

Nursery: Holding off on any real designs at this point because we have no idea where we will be living once Baby Mac is with us. We will be moving into a new home this summer. In the meantime we’ve been spending time selecting other big baby items like the stroller and crib and car seat. It’s so overwhelming with all the choices!

Loving: Talking parenting with Ryan and sharing the excitement of Baby MacDonald with him every day and how much I’m already in love with this child. Swoon.

  • You look amazing! I’m glad the nausea is subsiding a little bit! I’m still waiting for my bump to pop — I just feel like I’ve put on weight instead of actually looking pregnant! I know how you feel about the working out hard — it was my stress reliever too, even though by about mile two now I’m dead out of breath!

      Thank you! It’s hard for me to “slow down” but I have to remember I’m busy making a baby. It’s an adjustment, I still want to take it all on. I’m still waiting for that mysterious “burst of energy” that is supposed to come with the second trimester haha.

      Thank you! And haha food cravings are funny like that. I told my mom I’m craving chicken fingers and she said, “I think you’ve been craving them your whole life.”

  • It feels like you wait forever to pop but once you do I swear it happens overnight. I went to sleep one night and the next I was like “wow I AM pregnant”. For some reason it just does not feel real until you have actual physical proof.

    I also waited until after the first trimester to get my hair done and oh my gosh was it amazing. I didn’t know I was going to get pregnant, and I was already in dire need of getting my hair done when I found out.
