Bumpdate: 37 Weeks (baby is coming early!)

 37weeksablasm

How far along: 489 Weeks (but my doctor tells me it’s only been 37 weeks)

BIG NEWS people!! Baby Mac will be making his debut earlier than we thought!

Due to his massive size our baby will celebrate a birthday on September 9!

Yep, that’s right! I’m scheduled for a C-section in less than two weeks!

It’s been a long week. Due to his large size, my doctor ordered that I go back in for the 3-hour gestational diabetes test. (even though I passed the first hour long test back in June) They just really wanted to rule out the fear that I could have developed GD later in pregnancy. So yesterday morning was a fun morning of four blood draws every hour after fasting for 12 hours! I passed with flying colors. He’s just a very large baby.

Today I got another Non Stress Test that came back great. But the decision remains. This baby will be safer during a C-Section delivery than coming out the old natural way.

And I am 100% okay with that. Relieved even.

After hearing about all the terrible things that can happen with Shoulder Dystocia (nerve damage, broken arms and collar bones, extra stress on baby, loss of oxygen, and even death) I did not need any further convincing.

I’m still trying to wrap my head around the idea that on September 9 I will wake up normal, head to the hospital, and be holding my baby in my arms a few hours later. Crazy excited.

Due Date: September 9

Gender: Boy!

Baby Size: Huge. He should be clocking in at over 8 pounds by now.

Weight gain: 32 pounds.

Symptoms: Very tired. Very sore and very uncomfortable. I have to hobble to get around because I’m in excruciating pain whenever putting weight on my right hip. Doctor has recommended to stay seated or in bed as much as possible. I’m SO glad we got the house all ready last weekend before I was in this much pain. Another side effect of a big baby!

I am ready to meet our son! I hope these next 12 days go by super fast!

Baby Mac’s Nursery

I’m so excited that Baby Mac’s nursery is all ready for him!

I’ve been working on this since I found out that I was pregnant back in January. I always knew I wanted to do a bunny theme with a lot of classic white pieces, no matter what sex the baby was. I have always loved Beatrix Potter so that served as the starting point for the nursery design and it just evolved from there.

We have completely transformed our former cluttered office/guest bedroom/catch-all room into a welcoming space for Baby Mac. In a house full of mismatched and hand me down furniture, his nursery is the most “designed” room in our rented house.

With the help of our family, we pulled this room together on a budget and are happy with the results.

The nursery is a classic mix of white and light blue and bunny everything. It’s so clean and bright and calm and I can’t wait to spend precious moments with him in this room.

I’m so in love with it. All that is missing is our sweet baby boy! Come on, Baby Mac, we’re ready for you!

Bumpdate: 33 Weeks

How far along: 33 Weeks

Due Date: September 15

Gender: Boy!

Baby Size: Last week we had an ultrasound and growth scan. I told the doctor how much heavier my belly felt recently and described how it feels like baby boy is going to fall out when I’m walking. His response? “At his rate, he’s going to be walking out because he’s going to be the size of a toddler!” Not comforting words, doc!

So yes, baby is measuring big. He was already 4 pounds and 14 ounces last week. (average is 4 pounds). But everything is perfectly happy and we got a fantastic report!

Weight gain: 25 Pounds.

Movement: He may be running out of room in there, but he is still giving me steady kicks up in the rib cage. We can also notice when he is arching his back up into me when half of my belly protrudes further out than the other side.

Best Moments of the Week: It’s been a good week, so I have a few ‘best’ moments!

1. Baby shower number two for the Philadelphia crowd! It was another lovely day and Baby Mac was SO spoiled. I feel like lately there is a lot of negativity around showers, but I still think these celebrations are so special. There are not many other places where women celebrate women. I truly appreciate everyone’s support!

2. On Sunday, my mom came over and we spent ALL day organizing all the baby’s things. His nursery still looks like Babies R Us exploded in it, but I’m working bit by bit on getting everything was set. This was a fun, yet exhausting, day.

3. On Tuesday and Wednesday, Ryan took, and completed, the bar exam! Wohoo! Time to celebrate!

Looking forward to: The beach!!! We leave Saturday for a week.

Food Cravings: Watermelon, smoothies, ice water

Mood: Talk about flip-flopping moods! After a very irritable week last week, this week I felt so happy most of the time! It’s really sinking in that I don’t have that much longer to go! So excited.

Symptoms: Tired. Achy back. Sore feet and calves. Heaviness. Easily dehydrated (hello 90+ days). Insomnia. The gym membership has been put on hold into November. Going to take it easy here on out. Which is SO hard for me to do.
