Wyatt: 10 Months Old

Wyatt10months1  Wyatt turned ten months two weeks ago! We’ve been so busy this summer that blogging and my updates are a bit behind.

Busy is the best word to describe Wyatt these days.

His personality is shining through and he’s acting like a little boy. We are having a lot of fun together and he’s keeping me on my toes.

There has been so much change this past month, I don’t even know where to begin! The biggest thing to note from this month is the fact that he is sleeping through the night in his crib! I repeat, he is sleeping through the night in his crib. Miracles do happen! The baby who refuses to sleep no more!

Weight: I’d guess around 21 – 22 pounds

Length: I’d guess around 29 inches.

Hair: light brown and getting longer. He has a few strands by his ears that are super long.

Eyes: Blue

Nicknames: Wy, Wy-Wy, Mr. Man, Binky. Stinky

Likes: Books, Photographs, Music, Playing in water, Dog bowels, Pulling up on things, Mickey Mouse, eating, dogs, opening and closing doors, the piano, bells, his wubanubs.

Dislikes: Getting his diaper changed and getting dressed.

Clothing and Diapers: 6-12 months clothing, size three diapers.

Sleep: Sleeping through the night in his crib! He goes down around 7:30 at night and usually sleeping until 5 – 6 am. Sometimes he still wakes  up around 3:30 – 4 for a quick snack, but that’s few and far between. He then takes an average of two naps a day.

Feeding: Breastfed every three – four hours and eats three solids a day plus some puffs as snacks. Thank goodness for puffs, he loves them and they entertain him very well.

Milestones: Sleeping through the night, pulling himself up on furniture, crawling on his hands and knees (not just army crawling), turning pages in books super fast, sharing food and toys with us, and waving.

What I want to remember:

How he shakes his whole body when one of his favorite songs come on (The Hot Dog Song and Peanut Butter Sandwich)

The way he eagerly wants to share everything with us.

How he can entertain himself for atleast 10 -15 minutes browsing through all of his books.

His reaction to the ocean waves.

The way he tossed away a regular pacifier with disgust when I tried to give him one while down at the beach (instead of getting his beloved stuffed wubanub all sandy and wet)

Wyatt: 8 Months

Wyatt turned eight months last Saturday! As time goes by, the months go by faster and faster. I can’t believe we have an eight month old.

It’s been a busy month of growth for our loving little boy. He is now army crawling everywhere, has two teeth, is very curious, and loves to pick up everything in reach.

Weight:  I’d guess around 20 pounds

Length: I’d guess around 28 inches.

Hair: light brown and getting longer all over. When he wakes up in the morning he looks like a mad scientist.

Eyes: Blue

Nicknames: Wy, Wy-Wy, Mr. Man, Bink, Stinky

Likes: The boy is on the move! He likes to crawl and explore everywhere. He army crawls very well and does it until he turns all red and works up a sweat. Examining everything in his reach. Eating! and Books.

Dislikes: Sleeping in his crib. Getting dressed.

Clothing and Diapers: Mix of 3-6 month and 6-12  and size 3 diapers.

Sleep: He is getting better at taking scheduled naps, about three a day. They range from 15 minutes to a hour. At night he’s getting better too. He wakes up about once or twice a night, but still will only sleep in his rock n play!! We are doomed when he grows out of it…

Feeding: Breastfed every three hours and eats two – three solids a day. Usually a fruit or veggie puree that I mix up in the morning and oatmeal at night. He likes everything.

Milestones: Army crawling everywhere. Rolling at lightning speed. Grabbing at everything. Two teeth. Taking better naps. “Talking” much more, he’s a pro at saying “dadadadadada” .

Favorite Things: Board books, Mickey Mouse, Hot Dog song, singing, listening to music, crawling around, balls, his stacking rings, his wooden school bus toy, and dogs.

What I want to remember:

How happy he gets when we get into the pool.

The way he kicks and flails about when he hears the Hot Dog Song

How happy he gets when mommy or daddy come home.

The way he picks and pulls at the grass.

The way he smashes and nuzzles his face up into my shoulder. I think of it as his way of kissing me.

Wyatt: Four Months

Wyatt turned four months last Thursday.

Where does time go? (I know, I know, welcome to the rest of my life) This has been the best month yet. (Do I say that every month?)

He is developing more of a personality and playing with him is SO much fun. He’s having less fussy periods and more alert and happy periods. But boy, when he does have a fussy time he is REALLY fussy. Like screaming bloody murder until he passes out. It’s not fun. But his happy moods far outweigh his bad ones. He’s so alert and happy to discover the world around him. I’m feeling much more alert now too, like I’m gaining my sanity back!

Weight: 13 pounds 4 ounces (20 percentile)

Length: 26 inches (85 percentile)

Hair: Dark brown

Eyes: Blue

Nicknames: Wy, Wy Guy, Mr. Man. Mr. Stinky (I tried to stop this one, but it seems to be sticking around)

Likes: Being talked and sung to, hanging out on his activity mat, trying to roll over, looking at books, stuffed animals with big eyes, hanging out in his rock and play, looking at the Christmas tree, being swung. Being tickled.

Dislikes: Going down for a nap. He now cries and cries and needs to be swung (almost at a violent speed) asleep. Getting his diaper changed when he’s hungry.

Clothing and Diapers: Still in 0-3 month clothing and size 1 diapers. He’s our skinny little guy.  He also wears his cloth diapers on the days we are at home. I prefer the Grovia brand.

Sleep: At night he still sleeps in the Arms Reach Co-Sleeper attached to my side of the bed. We experienced a little bit of sleep regression this month. He wasn’t gaining weight as well as I he should, so I had to wake up him to feed (and pump, ugh) for a little bit and I think he got used to doing that again. So, goodbye sleeping through the night! Luckily we passed that phase and on average he’s sleeping 7-8 hours again. He also takes 2-3 naps per day as well.

Feeding: He eats every 3 hours (or less during the day.) Lately, he’s been a fussier eater, getting distracted very easily. It makes breastfeeding a little stressful these days.

Milestones: Laughing. Holding up held slightly more during tummy time. Rolling over from back to tummy (almost!). Holding up head when we are holding him over our shoulder. Going from 3.5 ounces to 5 ounces of breast milk per feeding. Sleeping through the night (most nights).

Wyatt is up and alert much more during the day and can get bored pretty easily. He likes lying on his activity mat/piano gym and staring and grabbing at his “friends” as we call them.

He has started to grab for things but hasn’t quite mastered a fully functional grip yet.

His favorite toys are stuffed animals with big eyes. He loves to stare at them and talk to them.

However, Wyatt is most entertained when we sit up on our lap or on his rock and play have conversations with him. He’s a chatty little guy and loves to smile. As soon as you look at him and smile he’s quick to return a bright smile.

He constantly has his fingers, or whole fist in his mouth. Whenever he has something new in his hand it goes directly into his mouth.

He’s very intrigued by our phones, which makes me so conscious of when I’m overusing it. He seems to know when I’m taking a picture now too.

Wyatt still can’t live without his wubanubs. I sometimes hate that I find myself giving it to him all the time, but he’s so content with it and sometimes it’s the only thing that calms him down. I hope he doesn’t get too addicted and is still sucking on it when it’s time to go off to college!

Health Issues:

Torticollis: He’s doing SO much better. As of last week he is officially discharged from Physical Therapy! Wohoo!

Weight: Doing great!

Back to Work: The truth: it hasn’t gotten easier. But we have a routine and we make it work.

What I want to remember:

His giggles. So adorable.

How he recognizes my face and voice now.

How determined he looks when trying to roll over.

My appreciation when he DOES breastfeed well. Such contentment all around.

Lazy mornings together.

Dear Wyatt,

Oh the fun we are having! When you sleep through the night, you wake up rested and ready to take on the day. We have so much fun together, laughing, talking in funny voices, singing, and looking at books. The days go by so fast and I can’t believe how fast you are growing. You are so determined to do big boy stuff like hold your head up and roll over. I love the proud grin you have after you accomplished something new. Christmas was such a joy together and you are so spoiled by all our family and friends. What a gift you are!

Love, Mommy
